5 New Year Resolutions You Just Can’t Give Up On!
January 22, 2020

So the new year resolutions you made feel like a distant memory, that gym membership hasn’t been used as much as you planned, and you’re on the sofa feeling less than stellar. Sound about right?

Most of us get back into old habits at this time of the year, whether it’s with food, partying, or late nights, and we often lose sight of the great resolutions we took on Jan 1st!

But some resolutions are worth sticking to! Here are a few we think are worth bringing back:

Love yourself!

So many of us give ourselves a hard time once the holidays are over, especially if we’ve over-indulged on pumpkin pie and eggnog (hey, we’re only human!) and have a few extra pounds to shift as a result.

And it’s hard to avoid feeling self-conscious when you’re bombarded with messages on social media about how you should be crushing it at the gym or going on the latest, greatest diet to lose all the weight you’ve gained, stat.

A lot of us internalize these messages and end up feeling like terrible people.

So we go on a diet that eventually fails or we end up eating even more sugary treats because we already feel like giant losers. Obviously, this helps no-one (and self-sabotage sucks!)

Instead, show yourself some compassion by blocking body-shaming Insta accounts and concentrate on chowing down on good, wholesome foods that nourish you and make you feel amazing, mind, body, and soul. Those extra pounds will be gone in no time.

Which leads us nicely to our next hack…

Eat intuitively

There’s never a better time than now to really pay attention to your body and what it wants to be fed.

And with all the overconsumption of the holidays, you won’t need to listen hard to know what it really wants!

This back-to-the-roots approach is known as intuitive eating, and we love it because it truly makes you the expert of our own body.

And yes, sometimes that will mean eating chocolate if that’s what your body wants, but when you’re listening to your body’s cues, you’ll also know how much chocolate is enough.

It’s easiest to practice intuitive eating if you do so mindfully, meaning when you eat you simply eat, with no distractions (Netflix will wait!)

While eating, pay attention to how each bite makes your body feel.

Does it make you feel nourished?

Or do you feel yourself getting bloated? Keep a diary if it makes it easier, but the main idea is to trust your body and really tap into what it’s trying to tell you.

But mostly, really taste your food.

Enjoy every bite, and keep judgment well out of the equation!

Spend time with family and friends

We can almost SEE you rolling your eyes at this suggestion, but hear us out!

There are numerous scientific studies that show how strong and supportive social interactions, including with family members, lower stress, increase wellbeing, and boost the immune system.

So, even if this holiday season has been stressful AF and you feel like hiding away from the world, try instead to spend time with one or two friends or family members that don’t make you feel like retreating to a nunnery.

Not only will you strengthen these relationships,  you’ll also give your health a much-needed boost!

Hit the sack early

While we hate to go all mom and pop on you, this is a big one if you want to get your health back on track!

When we put our bodies through the wringer with excess food, drink, and partying, certain body processes are put in overdrive to compensate for the added stresses, and now is the time to allow your body all the time it needs to recover!

So grab a CBD tea and a book and make sure you tucker down well before the witching hour. Your body and your health will thank you.

Stay hydrated!

It may sound like a cliche, but you need to drink plenty of water to keep all your systems running smoothly, especially after the holidays.

Plus staying hydrated has myriad benefits…not only does give the immune system a much-needed boost, it also beautifies the skin by making it all dewy and gorgeous, something most of us could do with at this time of the year when most of us have skin that feels and looks dry and dull.

Want to take your hydration goals to the next level? Well, we’ve got you sorted! Simply include our delicious CBD teas as part of your daily diet.

Yeah, everyone is talking about CBD, but for a good reason! Try our herb and adaptogen-based teas and see for yourself

Follow all these steps and you’ll be feeling great in no time flat!
